...In 1981, being laid up with a broken leg, I found a fair amount of free time on my hands. With my leg in a full cast, I was unable to physically play with my three young children and searched around to find something I could do for them from my easy chair. I remembered my grandfather had enjoyed drawing pencil mazes for me during the hot summer days of my childhood, and so decided to attempt the same for my kids. They enjoyed the simple mazes which soon began to incorporate their names in script. After a week or so, though they began to tire of them, I was finding new interest in the calming effect that drawing was having on me. Having never had art classes or done any kind of visual art, I was eager to explore this new experience....
